Stallions are male horses that have not been castrated and are capable of breeding. They are known for their strength, energy, and sometimes aggressive behavior, especially around other stallions. Geldings, on the other hand, are male horses that have been castrated, meaning their testicles have been removed. This procedure is often done to make the horse more manageable and to reduce aggressive behavior, making them more suitable for riding and work. **

Mares may not have a specific understanding of the castration process, but they can certainly recognize the difference between a stallion and a gelding. Mares are often able to detect the presence of testosterone in a stallion, and they may exhibit different behaviors around a stallion compared to a gelding. This suggests that mares can distinguish between the two, even if they may not have a conscious understanding of castration. **

Yes, stallions and geldings can be kept together in some situations, but it is important to consider their individual personalities and behaviors. Some stallions may be aggressive towards other males, including geldings, and may not be suitable to be housed together. It is recommended to introduce them gradually and monitor their interactions closely to ensure they get along. Providing enough space, resources, and supervision can help prevent any potential conflicts between stallions and geldings. **

Young people often call themselves geldings as a playful way to express their lack of experience or maturity in certain aspects of life. By referring to themselves as geldings, they are acknowledging that they are still developing and learning, similar to how a young horse is not yet fully grown or trained. This term can also be used humorously to highlight their naivety or innocence in a particular situation. **

To create a ranking of geldings, you can consider various factors such as their performance in races, their pedigree, their consistency in racing, their earnings, and their overall racing record. You can analyze their past performances, including wins, placings, and times, to determine their skill level and competitiveness. Additionally, you can look at their competition and the quality of races they have participated in to assess their abilities. By combining these factors and comparing them against other geldings, you can create a ranking that reflects their relative strengths and abilities in the racing world. **

Geldings may snicker at the walk because they are feeling relaxed and content. The snickering sound is often a sign of contentment and can indicate that the horse is feeling comfortable and at ease. Additionally, some horses may snicker as a way to communicate with other horses or to express their happiness. It is important to pay attention to the overall body language and behavior of the horse to understand the context of the snickering. **
